What is IPL?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Laser Hair Removal is a gentle, safe and cost-effective way to permanently reduce unwanted facial or body hair. The wave-length, exposure duration and energy levels are chosen to selectively damage targeted hair follicles (and unwanted skin spots) with minimal damage to the surrounding tissue.

Electrolysis Hair Removal

Most commonly used to remove thick white hairs on the lip and chin, Electrolysis is used to permanently remove any stubborn unwanted hair.

We do most electrolysis treatments paired with IPL, so the IPL can remove the bulk of the unwanted coloured hairs and the electrolysis can finish the job and remove any remaining white hairs.

The amount of treatments needed will vary from person to person and after your first session we will have a better idea of how many sessions you will need. Commonly it is between 5-6 treatments.

Prices :

  • $50 10 min
  • $70 20 min
  • $90 30 min

Frequently Asked Questions

IPL (intense pulsed light) is absorbed by the hair follicles, resulting in their heating. The hair follicles are damaged by the heat which results in permanent hair reduction. It’s important to stop waxing, epilating or plucking before you start your IPL treatment, as the hair must be growing in the follicle for it to be successfully heated and damaged.

It’s necessary to shave or clip the hair shortly prior to your treatment, we usually recommend the day prior to the appointment.

This varies from individual to individual, however, the average is usually 6-8 treatments. These treatments are spaced 6-8 weeks apart. It is important to not pluck, epilate or wax the area between sessions. You are able to shave the area between sessions.

You must not pluck, epilate or wax for 6 weeks prior to your IPL treatment to allow the hair to go through a full hair growth cycle. You are able to shave the area during this time. You should shave the area the day before the appointment.

You must not have any fake tan on the skin at the appointment. We recommend not using fake tan for 2 weeks prior to the appointment. If you come to your appointment with fake tan on the treatment area, we are unable to treat you.

The skin should be clean and clear of deodorant and creams prior to the treatment. You should also avoid using creams containing Vitamin A or Retinol prior to your appointment.

Clinical results have shown that a combination of dark hair and light skin produces the most successful results. Patients with darker skin types or lighter coloured hair can also be treated but may require more treatments than average, as the machine settings must be reduced for their safety.

Unfortunately, blonde and grey hairs cannot be detected by the light and their results are variable.

We would recommend an Electrolysis consultation in this case.
